October 2008. I was suppose to be at Waterloo at around 2PM, but was a little late dues to the trains, and spent a little time finding out where they had headed, some phone number searching later, I finally meet up with the POTN group behind Waterloo station in some tunnels. The I am allowed to spray paint on the walls what ever you want, so where graffiti artists meet. I don't really tend to shoot these kind of images, as it is other peoples art work, though if there was some interaction with in the art to give it that added element I feel somewhat better, I might add though some of the graffiti certainly deserved to be photographed and shown, pretty dam impressive. The initial idea for the meet up at 6PM was to shoot the Laser lights along the Embankment, named "Drift 08"with the Face Book Group.
We spent some time messing around behind Waterloo Station, and then proceeded to the proposed meet up at Blackfriars Tube station for 6PM, I have never shot up in London before, so I was taking every quick opportunity to shoot anything, and always getting behind :(,,,, (mental note, really need to go up again) I was overwhelmed at the amount that really needs a photograph taken of, and then add the amount of people shots there was screaming out to be taken too, the place was packed all along the embankment. We crossed Blackfriars Bridge and at last fell into the Pub outside Blackfriars Tube station, Feet were killing me!! for a well earned meal and pint. In all there was around 25 people in the group, that we met up with at 6PM it was not easy to all stick together, and soon got split up as people moved on, as others wanted to get that shot right, or take a few more, so a few phone calls every now and again and we all keep joining up at meet points.

I used a 35mm Prime lens all day only changing once for the last few shots of Tower Bridge, pretty pleased how it performed really, though my aim was not to use it all day, I just could not be bothered to change it, and time was always short on shots, and so many people about I just could not be bothered. We even had time to stop for some messing and fun shots, just as well I had my LED small torch :),,,, another mental note, when lending torch out, take off Car Keys :) (Wazza)
I think my Favorite of the night shots, well 2 favorites

One thing is for sure I have a lot to learn about shooting at 30 secs, it is the first time I really done anything like this type of photography, though had a few attempts before in Eastbourne etc. but not like that Saturday night. I fully intend to try and get up to the smoke a lot more for some serious practice. It was a great day out, for the photography and learning process é Brett Butler 2008
