Nurburgring Weekend Trip Race Track 30-08-2008 A late posting on the POTN forums Thursday Evening, by Cemesis (Scott) one place out of six left to go to the Nuburgring Race Track, Nuremburg, Germany, As I am notorious at making late decision I went for it. I was picked up at 6-15 AM Friday morning to start an 8 hour or so trip by Road and Ferry, 2 cars, 6 people, a shed load of camera gear and video equipment. We missed the Ferry by 3 minutes, so a wait of 30 minutes for the next, loaded, locked down, and the usual rush to the restaurant for Breakfast. We disembarked off the ferry around an hour later, thus starting the long trip across Europe. We split up at Brussels as we had to pick up the 6th person Rob at the main central Brussels Raiway Station. We hit the Nurburgring track area around 3'ish PM if I recall, staying at the Centre Parks about 11 miles from the track it was a quick gear dump, and headed straight down to the track. We pretty much manged to get stright on the track, my first time around, quite exhilatrating, and fast. (Below Scott in his M3, and Alex in his ST) ![]() ![]() I got to say I was somewhat flabbergasted by the shear size, amount of people, variation of cars and bikes that were queuing up to go on the track, in fact they were queuing to get off the track, the whole place is like a small world all of its own, the track being 11 miles or so long, 600 Metres up in the hills, everything and anything around the radius of the track in the area was all about racing, cafe's, garages, shops, it was a way of life, everyday, all year there is always something going on there. Saturday morning Up at the crack of dawn, (well it felt like it for me, 7AM) to get to the track for opening, but Saturday turned out to be a bit of a disaster, way too many accidents, ADAC, Ambulance, and other emergency services were busy, even fire engines, apparently quite rare to see go on the track, the track was shut more than open, shame really it was really great weather, got a few shots, and one of the guys did a few laps later on in the day. Sunday was a bit better but more overcast, guys did get a few laps under their belts, still a few accidents though, though sometimes the breaks were welcome to give the Arms, Legs a rest. Many Favorite shots, but love this one, it is like something out of the 50's ![]() Alas it all come to end to quick we had to head home later on in the afternoon, with our luck rushed back to get the earlier ferry , got there with 3 minutes to spare only to find it full up. Later ferry, home around 12-20 AM Monday Morning. 2500 images, over 3 days, through Fri and Sun were half days realy, it was hard work, one and half laps around the ring, (Thanks Scott), way to many accidents and the track closing, hence no photos taking. To sum up the weekend, it was a cheap fun weekend, with loads to do and see, from a photography point of view, perfect if you love people, cars, bikes, and action. from a Driver point of view you cannot better it. Appreciate the people who took me, great bunch, and would do it for sure again. I have split the images into 3 groups as there are rather a lot, Cars, Bikes, People Shots, (could not go out with the camera with out shooting some people).
