Gay Pride Brighton 2008 I decided to take a trip to Brighton for the Gay Pride Festival, as I have seen many a photos, and with so many Colorful outfits, Floats, I felt it was an ideal opportunity to try and get some Candid shooting practice. The Weather was awful, with the Parade congregating, starting on the Marina Drive, it was windy, wet, and raining. The Procession started around 11 AM, and went along the coast road, and up into the Town before dropping back down to the A23, London Road, and then onto Preston Park. The weather did clear up in the afternoon though not great, generally overcast, made it hard work for getting bright colorful images I was hoping for. I have never been to Gay Pride before, way too many people jumping in front of the camera for thier pictures to be taken, never been asked for a card so many times before, so mental note really must sort out a card with my Web Site address on it. On the whole was a very good day, although the floats were not as prestigious as I was hoping, still many a bright loud outfits. Fair Ground was also good, although packed, it gave some good shooting practice on the rides. I wandered back down to the main Pier, stopping for Lunch, and finished my day shooting around the Pier, I tried some off the hip shooting on the way up to the Station before catching the Train back. Took around 400 photos in all, with the 70-200mm in the wet, being the only weather sealed Lens I had, I am finding it more and more frustrating as to why Canon do not make the Baod weather sealed so all lenses are sealed, and not just a odd few, none of my Primes are, and that is rather sad on the Part of Canon. Once the weather dried up, moved over to the primes, with 135L for the rides on the fair, 35mm for waist shooting, and the walk about 85L down at the Pier. © Brett Butler 2008 |
